Job summary

We're looking for an AI-first developer who builds software the modern way. This role is for someone who likes to move fast using AI development tools, can rapidly prototype and ship production features, and helps the rest of the programming team adopt AI-driven workflows. You will work across our internal systems and customer-facing products to build tools that improve customer experience, automate workflows, and increase operational efficiency.

We're not just looking for someone who can use AI tools to write code — we're looking for someone who can design and implement AI-powered development workflows that help the entire engineering team move faster.

Our platform includes a large and mature Perl-based backend. This role requires learning and working within the existing Perl codebase. While deep, expert-level Perl experience isn't required, entry-level Perl experience is a must. You must be comfortable reading unfamiliar code, understanding systems quickly, and producing high-quality changes.

How you will make an impact

Build AI-powered solutions

• Design and build internal tools powered by LLM and AI APIs
• Rapidly prototype and ship new features using AI-assisted development
• Identify areas across the business where AI can improve workflows

Work across the full stack

• Develop backend features within our Perl-based application stack
• Build and improve frontend components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Integrate APIs and services to extend our platform's capabilities

Move fast and ship real software

• Use AI coding assistants as a core development workflow
• Deliver working solutions quickly while maintaining high code quality
• Debug and improve existing production systems

Help the team work smarter

• Help engineers adopt AI-assisted development workflows
• Share best practices for prompting, tooling, and productivity
• Document patterns that help the team build faster

What we're looking for

Core skills & requirements

• 2+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience with Perl programming
• Hands-on experience using AI tools in development workflows
• Ability to rapidly understand and modify existing codebases
• Strong problem-solving and systems thinking
• Ability to assist others in adopting AI into their workflows
• Must reside in the US and be eligible to work in the US (we are unable to sponsor visas for this role)

Technical experience

• Experience building web applications
• Familiarity with backend development concepts
• Comfortable with Perl, MySQL, PostgreSQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with APIs

AI development experience

• ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor / AI-native IDEs
• LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
